About: Members-only social club formed in 1863 for those interested in the arts, science and literature.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: An integrated position involving financial accounting and cost control duties as follows:
Financial Accounting: assists and coordinates the administration of the Finance Department and, in cooperation with the third party accounting firm, maintain accurately the General Ledger to ensure the integrity, completeness and timeliness of all financial data reported.
Tertiary education in finance or accounting.
Knowledge of USALI 11th ed.
Five (5) years Accounting experience in London / UK.
Ability to communicate in English with guests/vendors/government agencies and Club staff to their understanding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL
Use equipment only as intended.
Handle guest complaints following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all Club/departmental policies and procedures.
Supports the implementation of the Club’s annual business plan. Generates and reviews financial reports that are linked
to the plan’s financial goals. Coordinates a smooth flow of data with Pchase as well as a positive and collaborative relationship.
Supports the development of the annual operating budget for the Club and provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities.
Shares forecast information with operations to enable team to react to changes in the business. Assist the management in streamlining its visions and goals on a revolving basis.
Attends critique meetings to review information with management team. Provides forecast information to FC, CFO in a timely manner.
Maintains a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability and manage business risks. Ensures compliance with local operating procedures (LSOPs). assist the FC in the preparation and implementation of all policies and procedures and that all transactions are subject to the approval process to ensure that such controls are strictly adhered.
Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.
Leverages technology and effectively uses information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide managers with analytical support to drive decision-making.
Monitors systems to ensure accuracy of data (e.g., outlet menu prices) and support the achievement of revenue goals.
Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes and ensures compliance with Local Standard Operating Procedures (LSOPs).
Ensures tax rates used are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued. Administers the payment of Club taxes and liaises with the Club’s consultant on issues faced with the tax authorities.
Ensures Club permits and licenses are current.
Reviews audit issues with the FC, CFO and makes corrections as necessary.
Assigns team members and other department managers clear accountability to accomplish goals.
Embrace new projects which the Management has identified for increasing efficiency and profitability.
Successful completion of the training/certification process.
Ensure that USALI reporting is always balancing and accurate.
Reconciles balance sheet and ensures account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.
Ensure that the financial reports are timely prepared and in accordance with established accounting standards and relevant laws. In the course of doing so, to also analyze and investigate all variances that occur.

– monitor house banks and circulating floats
– liaise with General Cashier on analyzing and investigating cashiers’ over and short
– implement and administer the Club’s credit policy in order to ensure speedy processing and collection of receivables.
– review of creditors journal in the A/P Module
– monitor payment of invoices and updating of creditor accounts
– verify travel agency commission payments
– reviews the monthly bank reconciliations statement
– process month-end and year end journals
– review accounts payable and accounts receivable interface to the General Ledger
– prepare and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
– participate in month-end review
– perform payroll audits
– prepares the Club’s depreciation and amortization schedules and maintains the Capital Expenditure Reserve Account
– Liaise with Payroll Manager to ensure that correct dues are deadlines are met
Assist the CFO in the preparation of monthly cash flow statements and external reporting requirements.
Supervises the weekly, monthly and annual inventories of consumables, OS&E and fixed assets count.
SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE: Financial management skills e.g., ability to analyze P&L statements, develop operating budgets, prepare a short and long term forecast and champion capital expenditure planning and related variances analysis.
